Fractionation joints for floors.
They are used when there are permanent elements, such as doors and columns, when the direction of the laying is changed, when the support material is changed, when the sub-base is irregular or where the paved surface touches the walls or other fire partitions and/or where tension may arise. The joints absorb the expansions and contractions of the paved surface due to thermal changes and structural movements of the buildings and consequently they grant the duration and stability of the flooring.
Fractionation joints are suitable for the flooring of large buildings.Because of the importance of the fractionation joints’ function, a suitable mesh of fractionation joints between 16 sq m and 20 sq m should be laid inside the floor. The dimensions of the mesh depend on the floor conditions as well as the type of ceramic, the expected traffic and the thermal changes.
